By using StableMetric, creating an account, submitting content or using one of our tools or resources, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to them, do not use the relevant service.
1. What StableMetric provides
StableMetric is a UK-focused equestrian information and planning service.
It may provide:
- horse ownership guides
- articles and journal content
- calculators
- cost estimates and cost data
- forage and budgeting tools
- horse weight estimation tools
- horsebox and transport calculations
- printable resources
- community questions and answers
- Featured Brand and commercial content
- user accounts and saved resources
StableMetric is intended to make practical horse ownership information easier to understand and use.
It is not a substitute for appropriate professional advice.
2. Information, estimates and professional advice
StableMetric contains general information and calculations.
The needs of an individual horse, vehicle, yard, field or owner can differ considerably from a general example.
You remain responsible for deciding whether information is suitable for your circumstances.
Veterinary and health information
StableMetric is not a veterinary service.
Information about health, medication, nutrition, weight, water, forage, illness or horse welfare is general information only.
Seek appropriate advice from a vet or another suitably qualified professional where your horse's health or welfare may be affected.
Do not delay veterinary treatment because of information found on StableMetric.
Feeding and nutrition
Forage, water, feed and bodyweight calculations are estimates and starting points.
Actual requirements may depend on matters including:
- body condition
- age
- breed and type
- workload
- health
- grazing
- forage analysis
- weather
- pregnancy or lactation
- individual metabolism
Where feeding decisions could materially affect the health of a horse, use appropriate professional advice.
Farriery and hoof care
Information about farrier intervals and hoof care is general guidance.
The correct schedule and treatment for an individual horse should be agreed with a competent farrier and, where appropriate, a vet.
Horseboxes, trailers and towing
StableMetric transport and payload tools are planning aids.
They do not certify that a vehicle, horsebox, trailer or towing combination is legal, roadworthy or safe.
You are responsible for checking matters including:
- the vehicle plate
- Maximum Authorised Mass
- axle limits
- actual weighbridge weight
- towing capacity
- Gross Train Weight
- towbar limits
- noseweight
- trailer limits
- driving licence entitlement
- manufacturer instructions
- current UK transport law
A horse weight estimate is not a substitute for weighing the animal where payload margins are critical.
Do not rely solely on a StableMetric calculator where an incorrect result could result in overloading or unsafe transport.
Legal and regulatory information
StableMetric may explain UK legal, licensing, welfare or regulatory requirements.
This information is intended as general guidance and is not legal advice.
Rules can change and can differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Check the current official source where compliance matters.
3. Calculators and tools
StableMetric's calculators use the information you enter together with assumptions and formulas described by the relevant tool.
Results can be affected by:
- inaccurate inputs
- estimated rather than measured values
- rounding
- unit conversion
- assumptions built into the formula
- changes in the real-world situation
- differences between individual horses or equipment
You should check that:
- you selected the correct units
- your inputs are current
- your measurements are accurate
- the result is reasonable
- the calculation is appropriate for what you intend to use it for
Where possible, StableMetric explains the basis and limitations of a calculation.
A calculated result should not be treated as a guarantee.
4. Cost information
StableMetric may publish horse ownership costs based on:
- user submissions
- published prices
- commercial price lists
- research
- accepted or moderated contributions
- aggregated data
Costs vary by location, date, provider, horse and circumstances.
Published values are intended for budgeting and comparison.
They are not quotations and do not guarantee that you will be able to obtain a product or service at a particular price.
5. Contributing cost data
If you submit cost information, you agree that:
- the information is provided honestly
- the price relates to a genuine cost or source
- the date and area you provide are reasonably accurate
- you will not deliberately manipulate StableMetric's statistics
- you will not submit fabricated or misleading data
- you will not repeatedly submit the same transaction to distort results
- you will not include unnecessary personal or confidential information in notes
StableMetric may:
- review a submission
- flag it
- reject it
- exclude it
- combine it with other submissions
- categorise or re-categorise it
- use it to produce aggregate statistics
- retain it for validation and historical analysis
- remove identifying or browser-level information while retaining anonymous statistics
Submitting data does not give you a right to payment, attribution or publication.
StableMetric has no obligation to accept a contribution.
6. Accounts
Some StableMetric functions require an account.
When creating or using an account, you must:
- provide a valid email address
- provide information that is not deliberately misleading
- keep your password confidential
- take reasonable steps to protect your account
- not allow another person to misuse your account
- notify us if you believe the account has been compromised
- comply with these Terms
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account where that activity results from your failure to take reasonable care of your credentials.
We may require email confirmation before allowing access to some functions.
We may temporarily lock an account after repeated failed login attempts.
7. Account suspension and termination
We may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary, including where:
- these Terms have been seriously or repeatedly breached
- an account is being used unlawfully
- the account is being used for spam, harassment or abuse
- the account threatens StableMetric's security
- the user attempts to manipulate cost data or community content
- we are required to do so by law
- continued access creates a material risk to the service or another person
Where reasonably possible, we will act proportionately to the issue.
We may also remove inactive or abandoned accounts as part of normal service management, subject to our data-protection obligations.
8. Public questions and answers
StableMetric may allow registered users to ask questions and post answers.
Questions and answers are public.
Your display name will normally be shown alongside your contribution and your profile image may be displayed where applicable.
By posting public content, you understand that it may be:
- read by anyone
- indexed by search engines
- linked to from other websites
- quoted or discussed elsewhere
- cached or archived by third parties
Do not post anything that you need to remain private.
9. Community rules
Content submitted to StableMetric must not:
- be unlawful
- be fraudulent or deliberately misleading
- defame another person
- harass, threaten or abuse another person
- encourage cruelty or unlawful treatment of animals
- contain dangerous instructions presented irresponsibly
- infringe copyright, trade marks or other intellectual-property rights
- reveal another person's private information without an appropriate reason or authority
- impersonate another person or organisation
- contain malware or malicious code
- be spam
- be submitted primarily as undisclosed advertising
- manipulate votes, views, statistics or engagement
- intentionally interfere with StableMetric
Disagreement is allowed.
Abuse is not.
10. Moderation
StableMetric may moderate user-submitted material.
We may remove, hide or restrict content where we reasonably believe that it:
- breaches these Terms
- is inaccurate in a way likely to cause harm
- is spam
- contains inappropriate personal information
- creates legal risk
- infringes another person's rights
- is no longer appropriate for the service
Moderation does not mean that StableMetric approves, verifies or endorses every contribution that remains visible.
We are not obliged to monitor every user submission before publication.
If you believe content should be reviewed, contact hello@stablemetric.co.uk.
11. Rights in content you submit
You continue to own copyright in original content that you create and submit, unless another written agreement says otherwise.
By submitting content intended for publication, including a question, answer or other community contribution, you grant Ironmark Digital Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- host it
- store it
- reproduce it
- display it
- format it for the website
- make technical copies
- include it in search and structured data
- distribute it as part of StableMetric
- make reasonable moderation or formatting changes
- retain backup copies
This licence exists so that StableMetric can operate and publish the service.
It does not transfer ownership of your original copyright to us.
If content is removed, technical copies may remain temporarily in backups and third-party caches.
12. Editorial contributors
Approved authors may receive additional author permissions.
Authors must provide content they are entitled to publish and should identify relevant commercial interests where required.
Author biographies, qualifications and associated profile information may be publicly displayed.
StableMetric may apply editorial standards to submitted articles, including requirements relating to:
- factual sourcing
- accuracy
- welfare-sensitive content
- veterinary-sensitive content
- sponsorship disclosure
- conflicts of interest
- corrections
Separate contributor or commissioning terms may apply to individual authors.
Where separate written terms conflict with this section, the separate written agreement takes priority for that contribution.
13. Printable resources
StableMetric may generate printable resources containing information you provide.
You are responsible for checking the generated document before relying on, displaying or distributing it.
In particular, make sure that:
- telephone numbers are correct
- addresses and access instructions are correct
- horse details are current
- feeding instructions are current
- medication details match current professional instructions
- emergency contacts are aware of their role where appropriate
- obsolete printed copies are replaced when information changes
A printable medical or feeding placard is a convenience tool.
It is not a veterinary prescription, medical record or substitute for professional instructions.
14. Personal information about other people
Some StableMetric resources allow you to enter details about another person.
You must only provide another person's information where you have an appropriate reason and are entitled to do so.
For example, you should not publish or save an individual's:
- private telephone number
- home address
- access information
- confidential information
without appropriate authority.
You are responsible for ensuring that contact information you put onto a document is appropriate for the way you intend to display or distribute that document.
15. Saved resources
Signed-in users may be able to save versions of printable resources.
Saved resources are provided for convenience and should not be treated as the sole copy of important emergency or care information.
We do not guarantee that saved information will be available permanently.
You should retain appropriate copies of information that you cannot afford to lose.
StableMetric may impose reasonable limits on the number of saved resources or versions.
16. Intellectual property in StableMetric
Unless stated otherwise, StableMetric and its underlying:
- software
- design
- branding
- logos
- written editorial content
- databases
- graphics
- original tools
- calculation interfaces
- site structure
are owned by or licensed to Ironmark Digital Ltd.
All applicable intellectual-property rights are reserved.
You may use StableMetric for normal personal and lawful purposes.
You may link to public StableMetric pages.
You may quote reasonable extracts of public editorial material for legitimate purposes where appropriate credit is given.
You must not, without permission:
- reproduce substantial parts of StableMetric as a competing publication
- copy or republish the site's databases in bulk
- systematically scrape the service in a way that infringes rights or materially burdens the service
- remove ownership or attribution notices
- present StableMetric material as your own
- use StableMetric branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation
- reverse engineer or attempt to obtain non-public source code except where the law expressly permits it
- circumvent technical access controls
Nothing in these Terms restricts rights that the law does not allow us to restrict.
17. Generated PDFs
Unless a particular resource states otherwise, StableMetric-generated PDFs may be used for your own personal, yard or internal horse-care purposes.
You may print reasonable copies for the horse, yard or people for whom the document was created.
You may not sell StableMetric templates, remove StableMetric branding and redistribute them as your own product, or operate a competing template service based substantially on StableMetric's designs without permission.
The information that you enter into a PDF remains your responsibility.
18. Featured Brands, sponsorship and commercial content
StableMetric may receive payment or another commercial benefit for Featured Brand placements, sponsorship or partnerships.
Commercial placements should be identifiable as such.
A Featured Brand placement does not mean that StableMetric guarantees:
- the quality of a product
- the accuracy of an advertiser's claims
- the suitability of a product for your horse
- stock availability
- pricing
- customer service
- the advertiser's continued operation
Any purchase or agreement you make with an external business is between you and that business unless StableMetric expressly states otherwise.
19. External links
StableMetric may link to:
- government websites
- welfare organisations
- professional bodies
- research
- suppliers
- advertisers
- other external resources
Links are provided because they may be useful.
StableMetric does not control external websites and is not responsible for their content, security, availability, privacy practices or subsequent changes.
A link does not automatically amount to an endorsement.
20. Availability
We aim to keep StableMetric useful and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
We may:
- update the site
- change a tool
- correct a calculation
- amend an article
- remove obsolete content
- suspend a feature
- carry out maintenance
- change account limits
- discontinue a service
We may do this without preserving every previous version.
Where practical, significant changes will be managed reasonably.
21. Security and acceptable technical use
You must not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to StableMetric
- probe or attack infrastructure
- bypass authentication or access controls
- deliberately evade rate limits
- introduce malware
- attempt denial-of-service activity
- interfere with another user's account
- harvest account or contact information
- use automated systems in a way that causes unreasonable load
- manipulate analytics or cost data
- exploit a vulnerability rather than reporting it responsibly
If you discover a security issue, please report it to us rather than exploiting it.
22. No guarantee of completeness or accuracy
We take reasonable care when creating StableMetric's editorial material and tools.
However, information can become outdated and user-submitted material may contain errors.
We do not promise that every page, contribution, calculation or external source will always be:
- complete
- error free
- current
- suitable for every purpose
If you find an error, please tell us so that it can be reviewed.
23. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing excludes liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted
Nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Subject to those protections, StableMetric is a general information and planning service.
We are not responsible for loss that results solely from treating an estimate, community contribution or general informational article as a substitute for information that should reasonably have been checked against:
- an official source
- manufacturer documentation
- a weighbridge
- a vet
- a farrier
- another appropriately qualified professional
Where you use StableMetric as a consumer, we are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill where the law requires us to be.
We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.
StableMetric is intended primarily for personal horse ownership and equestrian use. We are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or goodwill arising from consumer use of the free public service, except where the law requires otherwise.
24. Privacy
Our use of personal information is explained in our:
Those documents form part of the information governing use of StableMetric but do not remove any rights you have under data-protection law.
25. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when:
- StableMetric's features change
- new services are introduced
- legal requirements change
- we need to clarify existing provisions
The date at the top shows the latest material revision.
If a material change affects registered users in a significant way, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
Continued use of StableMetric after revised Terms take effect means the revised Terms apply to subsequent use of the service, subject to applicable consumer law.
26. Ending your use of StableMetric
You may stop using the public website at any time.
You may also contact us about closing your account.
Closing an account does not necessarily require immediate deletion of every public contribution.
Where lawful and appropriate, public questions, answers or editorial material may instead be anonymised so that useful discussions are not unnecessarily broken.
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection rights.
27. Events outside our reasonable control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as:
- major hosting failures
- internet or telecommunications outages
- attacks on infrastructure
- failures of third-party infrastructure
- natural disasters
- government action
This does not affect rights that cannot legally be excluded.
28. If part of these Terms is invalid
If a court or competent authority decides that part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
29. No waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean that we have permanently waived our right to enforce it.
30. Third-party rights
Unless these Terms expressly say otherwise, a person who is not a party to these Terms does not have a right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
31. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you continue to benefit from any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
Nothing in this section removes any right you have to bring proceedings in a court available to you under applicable consumer law.
